PiMenu

CONCEPTION PROJECT

University of Ottawa, 2020 Fall Design Day Winner

Working as a team, the goal consisted of revamping the UX of an existing interface. Client Bocar N’diaye, a technologist at Saint-Vincent Hospital, requested improvement to a existing project, the PiMenu. This simple fullscreen menu system written in Python TKInter was adopted by Bocar for Raspberry Pi Touchscreen. The goal of this application was to improve hospital patient’s access to technology. Our team was assisted in overhauling the application and subsidising features required to satisfy the client and the users. Prioritizing functions, producing prototypes, and conducting multiple user tests, the final PiMenu includes functional video and music features. Ultimately, the PiMenu received a winning title in its division of the University of Ottawa 2020 Fall Design Day, a showcase of University of Ottawa engineering design projects.
